With two locations already humming away in St Luke’s and Botany, Presshouse Coffee was due to open its third set of doors in Auckland’s newest and shiniest mall; Westfield Newmarket. 



Hellospace collaborated with Kiwi interior design studio, Maken, to create a concept that elevated the existing brand to a whole new level of luxury. 

Hellospace is all for design with deeper meaning, and a rich story behind it. So the café’s name, Presshouse, became a key source of inspiration. We found creative ways to incorporate pressed elements wherever we could – with pressed tin, pressed Georgian wire glass, and the pressing together of opposing materials popping up throughout the space.


To put the “house” in Presshouse, the space was designed to feel like a garden-house-inspired haven. Surrounded by floor-to-exposed-ceiling glass, we softened the space with heavy curtains and dried flowers, while terrazzo stone tiles carried the indoor-outdoor theme through. At Hellospace, we see a house as a place where friends come together to eat, drink, relax, and connect. So we also carefully crafted intimate and cosy areas for small groups, along with spaces where up to 12 could gather together for a cuppa. 

To create a cohesively branded space, we held onto several of Presshouse’s existing brand staples. Teal fabrics, cut-out lettering, brass, and the Presshouse logo all became highlights – while the addition of deeper, contrasting tones brought a touch of extra luxury, in keeping with the mall’s upmarket level 2 vibe.


With a premium window site on Level 2, the Westfield team was looking for a beautifully high-end and boutique addition to their vendor roster. While for the franchisor client, holding onto elements of the brand identity set by the first two Presshouses was top of mind – tied first with creating a flexible, warm, and inviting space that their customers would love.

The Presshouse project was done and dusted on time, and on budget – with every stakeholder, from the franchisor to the Westfield team, left grinning ear-to-ear. A beautiful progression of the Presshouse Coffee brand, the finished space feels premium, high-end, and right at home in New Zealand’s biggest mall.
